Overview
Benji Study Buddy helps learners create, save, and revisit personalized learning paths. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is intended for product and legal review and may be refined as Benji grows.
Information we collect
We collect account information when you sign in, such as your Google account identifier, email address, and basic profile details provided through authentication. We also store the learning content you create or interact with, including subjects, generated curricula, edited sections, progress checkpoints, practice answers, Socratic responses, feedback, and related timestamps.
Benji is designed to preserve user learning patterns. That means we may save patterns such as topics studied, pacing, weak concepts, review history, completed sections, regenerated content, and answer quality signals so the product can recover your sessions and make learning more useful over time.
We may collect technical information such as IP address, device/browser details, usage events, request metadata, quota usage, and error logs to keep the service secure, reliable, and fair.
How we use information
We use your information to provide Benji, authenticate accounts, save and restore your learning paths, personalize the study experience, generate feedback, manage credits and limits, troubleshoot bugs, protect against abuse, and understand which parts of the product need improvement.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use your saved learning data to train public AI models.
Third-party services
Benji uses third-party services to operate the product. These may include Google/Firebase for authentication, OpenAI or other model providers for AI-generated study content, hosting/infrastructure providers, database/storage providers, and analytics or monitoring tools.
When AI features are used, the relevant prompts, answers, and learning context may be sent to a model provider so the feature can respond. We aim to send only what is useful for the requested feature.
Storage and retention
We keep account and learning data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain user history, improve reliability, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. Because Benji's value depends on continuity, saved curricula, progress, answers, and learning-pattern data may remain stored until you delete it, close your account, or request deletion where available.
Backups, security logs, and audit records may persist for a limited additional period before they are deleted or overwritten according to operational schedules.
Your rights and choices
You can choose what you submit to Benji and can stop using the service at any time. Depending on where you live, including in the European Union or European Economic Area, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or delete personal data. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To make a privacy request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No internet service is perfectly secure, so please avoid submitting highly sensitive personal information that is not needed for learning.
Children
Benji is intended for self-directed learners, generally high-school age and older. If we learn that we collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent where required, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, legal requirements, or operational practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
